State Freestyle Wrestling Youth Championship begins

The State Youth Championship of freestyle wrestling 2012 started yesterday at the Central Sports Palace. The number of participants has increased this year and it is getting more competitive as city and provincial teams are taking part with larger teams. Over 450 wrestlers from 30 organizations are competing this year. According to the principal judge of this year’s competition, international judge L.Bolormaa, the winners of the State Championship will have the opportunity to attend international competitions such as the Children’s Sports Festival to be held in Yakutsk, Russia this July and the Asian Youth Sports Festival in Kyrgyzstan. The Mongolian Freestyle Wrestling Federation has a strict policy about the weight of the athletes and even if the weight is 100 grams over, the athlete would be eliminated. The wrestlers are competing in 10 weight categories in both men’s and women’s wrestling. Yesterday, the youth wrestlers of the women’s 40kg, 49kg, 60kg, 70kg, 38kg, 46kg, and 56kg categories competed.

Ts.Sereeter to serve as a judge during London 2012

The Federation of International Wrestling (FILA) has announced the names of judges for the London Olympics 2012. Internationally qualified judge of Mongolia Sereeter Tserendagva, is one among the list of the best 57 judges. Sereeter is the eldest son of Mongolian renowned coach of freestyle wrestling late O.Tserendagva. He started his career in ‘Zamchin’ Sport Committee and became a coach in early 1990. He was qualified to be an Olympics Judge in 2011 after many hard working years.

“It felt nice to become a World Champion” claims E.Baasansuren

Mongolian pupils won two gold and two bronze medals from the World Student Chess Championship (WSCC) in Iasi, Romania. 16 Mongolian pupils participated in the WSCC 2012 which ran from April 28-May 6. This is the first time that four medals have been gained from the Championship. E.Baasansuren in ‘open nine’ category and Ts.Lkhagvasuren in the ‘open 17’ category won gold medals, G.Maralgua in the ‘girls 7’ category and nine year old Kh.Baysgalan in the fast chess category won bronze medals.
Below is an interview with the World Champion E.Baasansuren from Daily News Newspaper.
-Congratulations! You have been awarded as a World Champion.
-Thank you very much.
-You have been entitled with a ‘Gold Star’ from the Mongolian Physical Education and Sports Authority?
-Yes.
-For how many years have you been playing chess?
-For three years.
-Why did you choose to play chess?
-First I just wanted to learn chess and eventually I grew very fond of it. My grandfather is a keen player of chess too.
-Have you ever entered a State Championship?
-Yes, this year.

‘Erchim’ earns first point in Continental Championship

Mongolian ‘Erchim’ football club, competing in the ‘President’s Cup’ of Asian Football Confederation (AFC), has drawn in a goalless match with ‘KRL’ of Pakistan in the opening play-off on May 8th. In the match at Punjab Football Stadium, our club chose a 4-5-1 formation with the club members B.Ariunbold as goalkeeper, B.Gardimagnai, B.Anar, Ts.Enkhjargal, B.Erkhembayar as defenders, Z.Battulga, M.Tuguldur, E.Purevsuren, G.Bilguun, Minami Yosuki as centre-backs and E.Chinbaatar as a forward. With this draw both team earned one point each. Earning its first point in Continental Championship, ‘Erchim’ has taken a new step in Mongolian Football Clubs History. The club’s next match is scheduled to be played on May 10th against the ‘Power Company’ Champion of ‘President’s Cup’ 2011.

New ‘Goal-5’ football project

Since 2001, FIFA has launched four stages of Goal Projects with the purpose to help develop football in Mongolia. For the project, the artificial turf pitch was opened in 2002, the Mongolian Football Federation (MFF) office with dressing rooms and training rooms was opened in 2006 and in 2011 Futsal, an indoor hall for football, started to operate.
In December 2011, the FIFA Goal Project Bureau approved a fifth project (Goal-5) in Mongolia and on behalf of the project a complex with a capacity of 5000 people surrounding the artificial pitch will be constructed.
